ChatShipper webwidget - Cookie statement

Updated 1 month ago by Joost Rijlaarsdam

Question:

Do you have an example of a cookie statement we can use on our website?

ChatShipper:

We are no legal experts (so please consult your own), but this is what our clients seem comfortable using:

On our website we use the messaging service [ChatShipper partner]. The provider is [ChatShipper partner]. We operate the messaging service in order to be able to contact our customers better and more intensively, which is a legitimate interest within the meaning of Art. 6 Para. 1 lit. f GDPR.

The technical implementation is carried out with the help of external content from the web addresses smooch.io (Javascript and CSS file), cloudflare.com (Javascript) and googleapis.com (web widget). So that the external content can be loaded from your browser, your IP address is replaced by a pseudonym and then forwarded to these services. ChatShipper uses Local Storage (cookies) so that you can chat personally in the form of a real-time chat on the website. This enables a personal conversation across multiple pages and sessions. The data collected is never used to identify the visitor to the website in any other way and is never combined with personal data from another medium. The following data is collected and sent using the cookie: user id, session id, the visitor, URL of the website on which the chat was started, time in which the visitor is online on the website. During the chat, you decide whether and if so which other personal data you provide to us. This personal data is then processed in order to recognize you as a returning user, to read chat conversations again and to be able to answer your request through the corresponding customer service. The legal basis for this processing would then be Art. 6 Para. 1 lit. b GDPR (implementation of pre-contractual measures or contract)
